[Letter addressed to the Secretary of the Spiritual Assembly]

As Mayor of the City, it gives me great pleasure to extend my heartfelt New Year greetings to members of the Bahá'í community in the City and North West region.

I would like to pledge my support to the local community and thank them for the excellent work they do here in our City. I know that the New Year is a very special time for members of the faith and that it is an important time to engage with the whole community and work collectively towards a peaceful integrated community.

The Bahá'í  community locally are a good example to many of us how to live our lives and I would encourage members to continue with the good work you are doing to promote family life and strong moral values. I fully support the work you do to promote good relations, a better environment for us all and cultural diversity and hope that your positive outlook and commitment to a better future for all of us will continue as our city works towards its City of Culture 2013 celebrations.

I would like to extend my heartfelt best wishes to the entire Bahá'í faith in Derry and the North West at this important occasion and wish you all a very peaceful and happy NawRuz.

Yours sincerely,
COUNCILLOR COLUM EASTWOOD,
MAYOR.
